Narrative

The opening title sequence of “Encryption” has an typical narrative of Action/ Thriller about an encrypted disc protected by Agent Heartholme of MF5, the disc contains vital military defense codes which if came into the wrong hands could mean end of the world. An Evil Russian terrorist, known as Agent Dark Shadows who is played by Elliot Wright, attempts to apprehend the disc from Heartholme whom at the time is having a walk through the woods with his son Josh, Heartholme senses danger then plants the disc on his son Josh who is the main character of the film he is played by Harry Rothwell when a child and Dan Collins when an adult. At the end of the sequence Dark shadow captures Heartholme, which is one of our enigmas is he dead or alive?

Genre

From the start of the sequence you may have slight difficultly placing the genre but, it begins to make sense until you see the characters costumes as they both were secret agent attire. The music doesn’t really identify the genre at all but in a way it works quiet well.

Camera, angles, shot movements and positions

The main camera that we used is a side shot of Heartholme begin chased by Dark shadow, this appeared very effective so you would be on the edge of your seat as the antagonist is gaining on our hero.

Continuity& Editing

During the chase scene that is where the cutting and editing takes most part as they were very fluent in this sequence, especially the transition between the side shot to the point of view.

Sound

The sounds in our sequence were very effective as the SFX of the crows really set the feel of woodland terrain, this should make the audience fell like they are there in the woods. The soundtrack made you full of adrenalin and speed it especially did this during the chase sequence. There were only two piece of dialog during the sequence both made by Heartholme  when he whispers run into his sons ear this creates a deep meaning of suspense.

Mise-en scene . Expressionism

Mise-en scene in our sequence involves the characters costumes and 2 enigma codes.  Both the Pro and Antagonist both are wearing similar attire two represent that they are both secret agents maybe even from the same one. Enigma codes play the main part throughout the sequence, the disc is the main one as it pretty much is the story and Josh’s job to protect it, when Heartholme slips the disc into Josh’s back pack was done to get the audience thinking and questioning , why has he done that. The second enigma code is when Heartholme is captured does he live or die this is revealed at the end of the film.

Typography

The Typography throughout the sequence is very cryptic and spy like as the credits are a typewriter font known as Rough typewriter, which represents that it has something to do with the government. The title Encryption was deliberately chosen to be slightly difficult to read as it fits into the name of our film Encryption which means difficult to access, this font is known as Cheatin.
